Taree Men’s Group

 men shapes

Each of us is different.

Each of us have our own stories, feeling, concerns and dreams.

We’ve got our work.  We’ve got our mates.

But somehow the important stories don’t seem to get told.

The Taree Men’s Group is a place that is reserved for men to share

their stories with like-minded men.

Because sometimes you need to share more than a yarn and a brew.

You need to be heard.

Eight years ago I found a group of men who I hoped had the answers to questions I didn’t even know how to ask. Basically I felt overwhelmed, angry and powerless in my life. At that time I didn’t know what to feel. I only felt unhappy. Over the years the men I found gave me no advice or answers. With their help I learnt to understand and enrich my feelings and my life. I found my own answers.

That first Wednesday night I sat with local men and said I felt overwhelmed, angry and powerless. The men of the Taree Men’s Group heard my story and asked questions so they could better understand how I felt. I left that night feeling understood, empowered and happy.

Thank you the men of Taree who share my story.

Greg

I didn’t know I had a story to tell.  And had never belonged to a men’s group. But over two years I’ve found this group both very ordinary and truly extraordinary. Ordinary in that it’s just a group of friends who get together regularly (once a week, if you can make it) for a chat. Extraordinary in that I’d never made friends like this before – easily, rapidly, deeply – or ever had such support and warmth, without a word of advice. I’m surprised at how much it has helped me accept myself and enjoy my life.

The Taree Men’s Group has met every Wednesday evening for the last 15 years.  It’s made a big difference in the lives of a great many men.  If you are looking for a place to tell your story where you’ll get heard, this might be a place you’d like to visit.
